How A Blog Saved My Day

Brad Wilson aka The .Net Guy saved my day today. Here's what happended:

I wrote some application for one of our Turkish customers, doing data conversion and importing. Now, while everything runs fine over here in Germany, it fails right at the beginning over there. Tracing the log file, it came down to this line:

ALTER TABLE LOCATIONS MODIFY (LOCATİON Varchar2(12))

Ups, there is no field called LOCATİON, it should be LOCATION instead. Luckily I immediatly remembered Brad's article Beware Of ToUpper(), published a week ago, which covers exactly this problem. Thanks, Brad!
